These patrols are often used outside to patrol smaller, well defined areas that the potential for unauthorized access or theft issues.
- Bicycle Patrols – are one of the most versatile posts available on a program as they can readily be converted to foot or temporary fixed posts, while also having the potential to cover broad areas similar to vehicular patrols. In addition, they have the versatility of accessing more confined spaces than a vehicle patrol and provide a wide range of visibility and deterrence.
- Command Posts – these are positions where officers are posted to view CCTV camera systems and respond to electronic alarms. Often these positions are rotated on a frequent basis due to monitor fatigue. It is usually where the command and control structure is placed so that the chain of command has access to the most current and relevant information during security incidents.
- Contractor/Visitor Escorts – In many facilities, visitors and contractors must be escorted throughout their time at the facility. In many cases the security personnel escorts solely to the approved location for their visit, but in others the security personnel is required to remain with the visitor/contractor throughout their time on site.
